Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Ordinary Time? Yes, but …. Advent and Christmas sure seemed to go quick this year. Last week we celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany and the very next day was the Baptism of the Lord, which marked the end of the Christmas season. However, in our history it was a custom to continue the Christmas / Epiphany season all the way until February 2, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as “Candlemas.” It’s become our parish custom over the years to continue the spirit of festivity, even though it is technically Ordinary Time, since our Parish Feast day is Jan 25 along with our Eucharistic Devotions.
Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Happy Epiphany! Our three wisemen have finally arrived! You may have noticed that back in early Advent the 3 wisemen appeared in the north end of our Narthex. Every week they have been getting closer to the manger. The Feast of Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of the Christ child to all nations. Represented by the wisemen from the East, these gentiles showed that God’s salvation had come in Christ for all people.
