Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, No Vacation From Your Vocation Every spring when I was in the seminary, our spiritual director would always remind us before we went on summer vacation, “Men, there is no vacation from your vocation!” His adage reminded us to be ready for a summer that did not have the usual structures of the seminary for prayer time, class times, and other scheduled things that helped in our formation toward priesthood.
Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Two Masses Canceled I will be away from the parish for some vacation time in Canada with some priest friends. So, on Friday August 25, confessions and Mass are canceled. Also, the 9:30am on August 27 is canceled.

Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Vote on Tuesday, August 8! As I have written the past few weeks, there is a difference between the November vote and Issue 1. In November there is a moral imperative to vote against the proposed amendment (vote “no” in November). The bishops will have more resources for appropriate political action coming soon. While Issue 1 does not carry the same moral weight, there is a definite prudential weight one must fully consider. The results of Issue 1 will have a direct effect on how November’s vote will go.
