Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, andAll People
Dear Brothers and Sister in Christ,
Our Lenten Mission: “Forgiveness” from FORMED.ORG This year for Lent we will focus on the Beauty of God’s Mercy, which of course has been a theme of Pope Francis’ since he was elected Pope five years ago. Our plan is to offer faith formation sessions so that all parishioners can take advantage of a great video series from FORMED.ORG. The session will not just be watching a video, but will include opportunity for questions so that we can grow in appreciation of God’s forgiveness and then live the mercy that we receive. So, our regular Coffee and Catechesis time on Sundays from 9:30 -10:30 remains the same but will be focused on this theme. Now what about our parishioners who attend 4:30 Mass on Saturday’s? Have no fear! Dcn John and I will be offering the same opportunity on Saturday evenings immediately following Mass from 5:45-6:45. Because this is dinner time, we will have food available so we are ready to grow in faith. The specific Lenten schedule with details will come out next week, but mark your calendars now for the weekends of Lent - now with two times available to attend!
Memorial Mass for the Faithful Departed This Wednesday the 8:30 Mass will be offered for the faithful departed of our parish that have died since September 28, 2018. We offer a number of these Masses throughout the year because our Catholic Faith calls us to pray for those who have died that they may be purified and share in the glory of heaven with all the saints. It is also good for us to gather and ask for God’s consolation that comes to us from Christ as He Himself suffered and died that we might live. May we grow in love for one another through these opportunities and grow in hope for eternal life which God promises.
Friday Movie Night Join us to watch
Paul, Apostle of Christ this Friday at 6:30. Feel free to attend the 5:30PM Mass first and then come over for food and a good movie. This movie came out last year and stars James Faulkner as Paul and Jim Caviezel (from the
Passion of the Christ) as Luke. I saw it in the theatre and am looking forward to seeing it again. I’d love to watch it with you and have some discussion on how it depicts our patron saint.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Pfr
