Fr. Pfeiffer's Weekly Message--Culture of Encounter
February15,2020
Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Catholic Charities Appeal Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Catholic Charities Appeal. This year’s theme is “Faces of Hope: Though We are Many, We are One in Christ.” Please know that even though this is a diocesan collection, the benefits come back to helping people in our parish who benefit from Summit County Catholic Charity services. If you were unable to make a pledge last weekend and would like to do so, please take one of the pledge cards from the Narthex and turn it in with the regular collection or feel free to call the rectory and we can assist you. Thank for your past and continued support of Catholic Charities.
St. Paul’s Tasted Great! Thank you to all who participated and prepared for last week’s Taste of St. Paul’s event. There was a nice diversity of foods and great fellowship. In addition $893 was raised to assist the Centenary committee in having other events throughout this year of celebration.
New Lighting! You will probably notice a bit of a difference in the lights, especially if you sit in the side sections of the church. We are in the process of transitioning to LED lighting which will save the parish a significant amount of money on maintenance and electrical costs. The next steps will be switching out the main nave and the sanctuary lights. You will see an increase in brightness as well which should help in overall clarity in the church and assist those who follow the Mass using the Pew Missals.
Feast Day Commemorative Book for Parishioners! In honor of our feast there is a Commemorative Centenary Book of St. Paul Parish. You will see copies in the Narthex after all the Masses this weekend. If you already have one but would like more to give as gifts please feel free, but we ask that if possible you make a donation in the baskets provided.
Honoring Marriage Month As you have already noticed, we are praying for married couples and the sacrament of marriage as our post-Mass devotional this month. In the bulletin is a whole page of marriage resources and retreat opportunities. Check it out In addition there will be a special blessing of married couples after all the Masses next weekend (Feb 22, 23). If you feel so inclined wear your wedding dresses and tuxedos! Or if that is not possible, dress up special and rejoice in God’s blessing of you marriage!
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Pfr
