Encouraging the Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Merry Christmas and Happy Epiphany! and Get ready for our Feast Day! I know the Christmas season ends after this weekend, but let’s celebrate and get out of it as much as we can! Hopefully this time has been grace filled and spiritually fruitful for us. May we continue to foster that spirit through the year. To help us continue the celebration, our Feast Day is coming up January 25. Bishop Perez will be with us at the 4:30 Mass to celebrate our 100th anniversary. There will be a light reception in the PAC immediately following where the Bishop will greet people.
Church Lighting Situation If you were one of the people at the 10pm Christmas Eve Mass, you had an adventure or at least a story to tell people. The fire alarm went off due to a burning circuit board in one of our lighting breaker boxes. The fire department checked it out and thankfully we were able to continue with Mass. But certain breakers have to remain off until it is fixed. Even before this happened a number of bulbs were burned out. We are currently exploring options for lighting in the church including switching to LED’s. So I ask for your patience if you normally sit in the center nave which is quite dim. Once we are clear on the options we have I will be bringing it to pastoral and finance council to move forward. We want to take the time for the proper diligence and make sure it is done right.
Faith Formation Returns! Sunday mornings from 9:30-10-40, join us for growing in faith. Simply “going to Mass” is not enough for us to live a fully Catholic life. We must grow in knowledge of the faith in order to proclaim it boldly. Please see the bulletin for the upcoming schedule of topics. This is not a series where one must attend every week to gain benefit. It is designed specifically knowing that not everyone can come every week. There are a range of topics, but there is a common approach to the different topics. This theme is twofold: 1) Knowing the Tradition, meaning our Catholic heritage that passes on to us the truth of the faith, and 2) Apologetics, meaning how we defend our faith against those who challenge our beliefs. Please join us for any or all our discussions.
