Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ,
His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
State of the Parish and Finance Report
Over the past few years due to covid, and a year has passed since the mandate that required us to change our Mass schedule, it has been a time of transition. As we come to the end of the liturgical year and prepare for Advent, this is a good time to review how we are fulfilling our mission and to report to the parish our financial status. This weekend at all the Masses I will give my thoughts and parish financial report will be made available.
When it comes to the finances of the parish we strive for good stewardship and transparency. Our parish is extremely generous in making sacrificial gifts, which go beyond one’s financial contributions. Please know if you have any questions at any time my door is always open for discussion. Our parish finance council is also dedicated to their responsibility of counseling me in the best ways to financially support the mission of the parish. Thank you, Mike Merle, Vicki Williamson, Fred Cafarelli, and Greg Beatty, on council. And thank you to Hallie Wolff and Jeanne Bearer on staff. And thank you to all parishioners and benefactors of St. Paul’s! May God continue to inspire us to sacrificial love and generosity for the sake of His Kingdom.
Thanksgiving
On Thursday, the Mass time will be moved to 8:30am since it will not be a workday (at least for most), but still keep it early enough so people can get back home to prepare for cooking and family celebrations. What a blessing it is to participate in Mass on this day for the Mass itself is the perfect thanksgiving to God the Father!
Talk About Confusing!
You may have heard rumblings and conflicting or at least confusing reports about the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. If you want to go down the rabbit hole of why it’s an issue, be my guest. But as it is, this feast is a holy day of obligation, but December 8 falls on Sunday this year, so the feast is bumped to the next day December 9th. Also bumped with it is its obligatory status. So, this year December 9th IS a Holy Day of obligation. Like all obligatory days, one must participate at Mass (as they would on a Sunday) and can only miss if there is a grave reason. Due to the odd timing of this one, there will be no anticipatory Mass on Sunday evening. The Immaculate Connection Holy Day schedule is:
Monday December 9 @ 7am - English (low mass, chanted)
Monday December 9 @ 8:30am - English (chanted w/ music)
Monday December 9 @ 6pm - Latin (chanted w/ incense)
May God bless you and Mary keep you.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Pfr
