Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ,
His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Thank you for your Participation Thank you again to all who participated in the discernment sessions, and have completed the survey distributed last week. My staff and I are reviewing them presently and I will announce a proposed solution and a timeline the weekend of October 15. Keep in mind the phrase, “Blessed are the flexible, for they will not be bent out of shape.” This is a unique time, but also a time of pastoral creativity as we journey together. I appreciate everyone’s input and ask for your continued patience and understanding.
Remember that Surprise I Mentioned? With the focus we have had on our Mass schedule, I hope we have not forgotten that we are in a Year of Eucharistic Revival. A couple months ago in light of our Eucharistic Prayer sessions, I mentioned a forthcoming surprise. Well, those who enter through the south entrance should have noticed it - we have a new banner! About seven years ago we commissioned our parish St. Paul Painting. We then blew it up for banner size to hang on the PAC building facing Brown St. visually announcing our parish mission. The banner has served well but finally faded due to the sun’s rays. So, I commissioned the same local artist, Louis Udovich, to paint us another St. Paul but for this time of Revival, it is Eucharist focused. Thank you to Josh, our facilities manager, and parishioner Denis Randal for hanging the banner. May it always remind us of who we are and why we do what we do as Catholics.
Voting No on November Issue 1 Thankfully our Bishop and the other bishops of Ohio have been clear with a moral imperative to vote NO on Issue 1 in November. The proposed amendment is directly contrary to catholic social teaching on life, rights of parents, and the freedom of conscience for medical professionals. Please continue to learn about the importance of this issue and spread the word to vote no on issue one.
