Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Slight Liturgical Tweaking
I am often asked this question after a person returns from visiting another parish for Mass: why do they do Holy Communion differently over at that parish? Well the answer is complicated, but bottom line is that it is up to the Bishop of the Diocese to make the determination of what posture to use during that part of Mass, because there are legitimate options from which to choose. However it is the bishop that decides this so that there is a common posture in the Diocese. Bishop Perez will be writing a letter reminding the faithful of this in a few weeks. Leading up to that there will be bulletin inserts giving some instruction on the Liturgy, liturgical posture, and the Communion Rite.
How does this effect St. Paul’s? Not much because we have been fulfilling the norm for the past many years. But there is one “tweak” we can make. Next week I’ll explain a bit more what that will mean.
Adoration on Tuesdays
A reminder that on Tuesdays we have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It is necessary that there be at least one person in the church during the hours of exposition (from 7:30am-3pm). Ideally there are more than one of course. Please consider committing to an hour every Tuesday. We are in need of more people in order to maintain this wonderful practice at our parish. Please call the rectory if you have any questions.
Financial Report
Having worked with the Finance Council and with special thanks to Jeff Kendro, we are ready to give the parish financial report. Next week the Financial Report for the parish will be given before all the Masses. As always anyone can call the rectory if there are any questions. Members of our Finance Council will be present as well to hear your concerns. Thank you for your continued generosity to the parish. Keep it going! We emphasize our parish mission, but it only happens when we all cooperate with God’s graces of generosity.
