The Lenten Season
Lent is a powerful season in our liturgical year. This season is basically a 40-day long retreat that the entire church experiences together. It is a time of more intense prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Through the graces we receive as Christians we should be performing these good works all year round, but in Lent we step it up. By withholding even legitimate goods and disciplining our passions even a little bit, we allow more room for God to enter in and help us grow in His grace. Lent is not running a track race where as fast as one might run, they still end up where they started. Lent is more like the doctor check-up to see where things stand with diet and exercise habits, and develop new strategies to improve our on-going health. Lent does this for the soul.

Fasting & Almsgiving:
Soup Supper on Thursdays of Lent from 5pm-7pm.
It is a simple meal to help us with our fasting this season, and any free will offering will go to the St. VdP Society, which offers outreach to the poor and struggling in our neighborhood.
