Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We offer our thanks to God for the 92 years of our parish day school. We focus on thanking God because in His great Providence all things work toward the Good and will give Him glory. For 92 years, students were educated in the light of Christ at our school. Thousands of children, hundreds of staff including, priests, nuns, and laymen and women, and even more thousands of parishioners, all sacrificing over these many years to make this possible. We can look back and see the great benefits and graces God has bestowed on this parish and the wider community through our school. Visitors to our school throughout the decades commented on the loving atmosphere, the prayerful spirit, and the well-maintained and clean hallways and classrooms.
I want to thank our principal, Bill DiBacco, who set a good example of professionalism and Christian charity as we navigated through this difficult chapter. To our faculty and staff who stayed true to their love for the children and passion for the school. To our eighth grade class who showed great poise and leadership for the younger grades during this time. To the many past parishioners who have gone before us always valuing the next generation, and our present faithful parishioners whose love for children and education is still strong.
While there is sadness at this particular ending, as Christians we also see how God continues to bless us in new ways. Even though this significant part of our institution is ending, we remember that people are what always made the school what it was, and our people will carry on continuing to be enlightened by Christ. Our parish opens itself anew to God’s Providence that will bring all things to Good, for Christ’s light cannot be extinguished; it is refracted and reflected in new ways.
Eucharistic Adoration The Lord is calling you! We are in need of Eucharistic adorers on Tuesdays. The Church recognizes the great benefit of praying in adoration before our Eucharistic Lord. Every Tuesday from 7:30-3:00 the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for people to come and pray in the Church. The Church requires that there be at least one person present in adoration during that time. They are divided up into hours, so if you are able to commit to an hour every Tuesday, please call the rectory. We are running into situations with hours not being covered. Do not be afraid to spend time with Jesus; this prayer can only be good for you.
Rummage Sale Success! Thank you to the Ladies Guild and all who helped make the Rummage Sale a success. In fact I was able to acquire a couple little things for the rectory. It was a lot of work, but it was a fun social event and financially fruitful. Thank you to Mary Marrotta who organized it this year.
Independence Day Mass The best way to celebrate our country’s Independence Day is by participating at Holy Mass. Freedom of Religion is one of the fundamental rights our forefathers fought and died for so how better to celebrate than to live out that freedom by going to Mass. We thank God for our country and the liberties we enjoy. We thank those who have gone before us especially those who served in the armed forces. We thank those who serve currently as well. Even so, we are not perfect; we will pray for our country that it may become a more God-fearing nation, which respects the dignity of the human person and strives for the common good. In this way we will be blessed, and then can be a blessing for the world. God bless America!
