Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus, Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Our Centenary Celebration Begins! At the time of this writing we are almost at 350 tickets sold for the opening dinner! Wow! If you cannot attend, worry not because there are other events and celebrations to come! The next one is for Saturday October 12. On that date in 1919, the parish celebrated its first Mass at the Firestone Park Elementary School since the church was not yet built. After the 4:30 Mass on October 12 we will have a light reception as we open the time capsule that was buried near the grotto in 1994. It’s been 25 years so we’ll see what’s in there. But even more important come and share stories and enjoy the fellowship.
I want to thank in a special way our committee members and volunteers: Frank Lancianese, Ron McAvoy, Patty Hogue, Maggie Walker, Mary Marotta, Jeanne Bearer, Judy Joseph, Josh Craig, Heidi Guttermuth, Hanna Lidderdale, Peggy Muncey, Tim and Marie Canan and Bill and Dawn Canan.
These folks are not done yet and as we prepare for upcoming events there will be need for parishioner volunteers. If you are interested in donating your time to decorate, advertise, or be present at certain events to offer hospitality to visitors please call the rectory and let us know so we can plan accordingly. Thank you for your willingness to serve and honor our parish.
“Theology in the Clouds” Soon there will a new initiative sponsored by our parish called, “Theology in the Clouds” - Clouds of pipe/cigar smoke that is. The evening of the last Friday of the month, Sept. 27 at the Pipe Rack on Manchester and Wilbeth will be yours truly offering a brief presentation on the connection between different types of smoking and the three parts of the soul. Attendees will enjoy a pipe or cigar during the discussion. More details are forthcoming.
