Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Parish Financial Report This weekend, Jeff Kendro will be giving our parish financial report to the parish at the Masses. Jeff dedicates much of his time to help us fulfill our duties to all parishioners and to keep us in compliance with Diocesan directives. I thank him for all his hard work. I want to thank Jeanne Bearer, who works in our business office, to make sure our dedicated staff gets paid and also keeps us on track paying our bills. I want to thank the whole parish finance council as well who helps me in decisions to keep up good stewardship of our parish resources. Finally thank you to all our parishioners who give generously to our parish. I am humbled to see so many keeping their parish donations a priority in their giving.
Final Lenten Mission Session This weekend is the final session of our Lenten Mission focusing on Forgiveness. Even if you have not attended the other sessions, please come to this last one; it will still be beneficial. There has been some great participation not only in the number of people but those who are engaged by growing in God’s mercy. This has been encouraging for me as well and has helped me prepare for Easter.
3rd Scrutiny This is the final scrutiny for our elect, who are preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. Their responding to God’s grace and growth in conversion should be an inspiration to us! The danger can be we fall into mere routine or even bad habits in the spiritual life. May we take this opportunity to truly scrutinize ourselves so we can rely on God’s grace even more and grow in holiness.
100th Anniversary Planning - Save the Date – September 21 and 22, 2019 A quick update: Our historical committee is continuing to work on preparing a booklet for our 100th Anniversary year. There will be special dates and events throughout the year, but the first one to kick us off is the weekend of September 21
st and 22
nd. We will have Mass like normal. Immediately following will be the revealing of the Time Capsule (from 1994) and a catered dinner in Boeke Hall. More details will follow, but save the date and get ready to celebrate our Centennial!
Perseverance in this Lenten Season!
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Pfr
