Fr. Pfeiffer's Weekly Message--Culture of Encounter
August14,2020
Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Examining the Sunday Mass Schedule As promised from last week’s column regarding the proposed Sunday Mass schedule change, I offered the opportunity for input from people after the Masses. Thus far, folks have responded positively. Here is the proposal:
4:30pm Vigil (Ord. Form no music)
7:30am (Ord. Form no music)
9:00am. (Extra. Form w/ music)
11:00am. (Ord. Form w/ music)
One concern that came up is the Faith Formation schedule. As of right now, due to Covid-19 we are not offering communal faith formation, so for now things are unaffected. However, in the future, if the schedule is maintained, we would need to discern how to incorporate a more communal Adult Faith Formation program into the life of the parish. Again after the Masses this weekend will be the opportunity to offer comments and ask questions. One can of course call or email the rectory and leave me a message as well. In addition, this past week an email was sent to all those on our list with the new proposal asking for feedback. If you did not get an email and want to be on our email list, please contact us to let us know. One can always use the suggestion boxes in the narthex. We will even be seeking feedback through our parish app. Information is also on our website about all of the above.
Mass Intentions This is a reminder that the Mass book is open and there are available Masses for those who wish to offer specific intentions. Since the Sunday schedule is not absolutely set yet for September, we cannot guarantee a specific time other than the 4:30. However the schedule will be set by next week and also many daily Masses are open.
100th Anniversary - We Have Not Forgotten! This has been a year we will not forget due to Covid, but unfortunately some of our Centenary celebrations were canceled. Technically our 100th year closes next month in September. Since the current restrictions will not be lifted by then, plus we would need time to prepare, we are simply going to push off the closing celebrations. I propose we pray for January 25, 2021 since that is our parish patronal feast. Hopefully, we can have some kind of special liturgical celebration and social at that time. In the meantime, keep praying for blessings on the parish as we thank God for 100 years and as we discern through the current climate.
Thank you all for your love, devotion, and patience! Stay holy and healthy!
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Pfr
