Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ,
His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Remembering Pope Francis
Pope Francis died Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88. We will remember him in a special way as we pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet during Adoration this weekend. May he rest in Peace.
The Lord is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
The tomb is empty for the Lord has risen as he said! The Lord never fails at His promises. He forgives. He raises up those who repent. By His wounds we are healed and with His Resurrection we have access to divine life by grace. Today is why we have joy, today is why we are Christians! Without today all our penances would be for naught. Maybe these lines sound familiar. Well, that is because I wrote them last week too. I repeat them because today is still Easter Day! This whole past week has been the Octave of Easter as in each day is considered Easter Day. It is too great a mystery for one day. Furthermore, this is only the begging of the whole Easter season.
Divine Mercy Novena
The Divine Mercy Novena began on Good Friday and concludes April 27 on Divine Mercy Sunday. We will honor the devotion at all the Masses this weekend during time of Adoration after Holy Communion.
Adoration and Faith Formation
As you may have noticed our monthly adoration schedule and our faith formation schedule has switched a bit due to the Easter season. Note that there will be no extra adoration time on weekend of May 4th, but will resume the first weekend of June. Faith Formation will resume on May 18th, the third weekend of the month, from 9:15-10:15 am.
Sacrament of Confirmation
We have some parishioners who are about to receive the sacrament of Confirmation at St. Francis de Sales this Tuesday with Bishop Amos. Keep them in prayer and also thank God for the gift of the Holy Spirit Whom you received through your confirmation. Keep asking for further graces to enact the gifts of the Spirit in your life.
If you have not been confirmed and desire to complete your initiation into the church, call Deacon John at the rectory. Also, parents, if your child is going into 8th grade or high school and has not yet been confirmed, call Dcn. John so he can help you prepare for next year.
Entering into May
Going into May here are some things to consider.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Pfr
