Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Faith Formation This Weekend
“Am I Praying the Right Way?: Discerning through the Spiritual Life”
Join me in the PAC from 9:15-10:15 this Sunday, October 20 as we delve deeper into the practicalities of prayer. As human beings we are a spiritual and bodily “hybrid.” Both aspects must be considered as we grow in grace. Having a well-rounded spirituality is important in order to grow in holiness. Questions like, Can I ever pray too much? Am I “spiritual enough?” Am I praying the right way? What kind of penance should I be doing?
“Spirituality” is not some abstract guessing game. Join us as we explore how our Lord and the saints guide us in order to bring hope and clarity in our spiritual lives.

Especially with the election coming up soon we need to continue prayer and penance in order to work toward securing a culture of life. Abortion is modern-day slavery and only hurts our country as it is a sin that cries out to heaven for justice. The killing of innocent life is now long past mere toleration of an evil but is actually celebrated as a good among many politicians, celebrities, and influencers. Please call out to God in prayer and may we make reparation for these terrible sins against human life. respectlife.org/celebrate
Election
Be sure to vote! Our Catholic Tradition teaches us that we are obliged to take part in political activity to promote the dignity of the human person and foster the common good. In our context this includes (but is not limited to) exercising our right to vote. Catholic Social Teaching always connects rights with responsibilities. It is not only our right but our responsibility to vote, thus we are obliged to do so. There are never any perfect candidates but always wounded fellow sinners. Even so, we strive to do good through even flawed people and systems. This sometimes means voting for the “lesser of two evils.” We can never vote for evil, but a vote can be cast with the intent to stop a greater evil from prevailing.
We must educate ourselves about the issues and candidates not according to superficial gossip or conjecture, but according to our use of reason guided by faith. For Catholics we must form our conscience according to the natural law God has given, not what modern secularism imposes upon us. So pray, vote, and then pray more! Then go out and serve your neighbor, and then … you guessed it. Pray some more.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Pfr
