Faith Formation Sunday September 15

This weekend we continue our monthly formation session from 9:15-10:15.   This month’s topic is:

Does God Hear My Prayer? Navigating the Valleys of the Spiritual Life. Discouragement and fear are part of our human experience.  Even in prayer, encountering times when we feel disconnected, times of doubt, and even darkness are part of our spiritual experience. Join us as we discuss our rich tradition of saints, mystics, and everyday grace that can help us in our own spiritual journeys and as we encourage each other in faith.

Courage / Encourage Chapters in the Diocese of Cleveland

Over the past decades and especially in recent years there is growing confusion about who we are as human persons made in God’s image.  Due to original sin, our relationship with God, and with others is compromised; and even our bodily and interior lives are dis-integrated because sin clouds our intellect, weakens our will, and disorders our passions.  This includes our sexuality, which is a gift from God and ordered to human flourishing, but for some people there are temptations that lead them toward same-sex attraction.  Sadly there are voices in the culture and even within the church that bring great confusion as all of us journey together, whatever temptations we may face.   The Church strives to accompany all who seek God.  The apostolate of “Courage” is an inspiring ministry of great people seeking to love God.   It is a support group for those who struggle with same-sex attraction yet strive to live the gift of chastity.   There is a “Courage” chapter in Cleveland. “EnCourage” is a different support group for the family members of those with same-sex attraction.  Handling the reality of same-sex attraction for individuals and families is difficult, with tension in relationships, confusion, even division and deep wounds.  There is an EnCourage chapter in Cleveland as well.  Recently another “Encourage” chapter began in the Akron area too.  If you are interested in learning more about these ministries check out this website:
