Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Happy Epiphany! Our three wisemen have finally arrived! You may have noticed that back in early Advent the 3 wisemen appeared in the north end of our Narthex. Every week they have been getting closer to the manger. The Feast of Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of the Christ child to all nations. Represented by the wisemen from the East, these gentiles showed that God’s salvation had come in Christ for all people. As is our Epiphany custom, we will provide blessed chalk following the Masses this weekend. Each household can then use the chalk for marking their doors for this new year with the customary Epiphany blessing. I especially encourage the heads of our households, the fathers of families, to lead their household in this blessing. If you have never had your home blessed by a priest, I invite you to invite me over for a house blessing - just call the rectory and we can schedule a time.
Holy Hour and Confessions This Sunday As we begin this new year, please join us for some time of adoration. Immediately following the 8am Mass today there will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 10:15. During that time I will be available for the sacrament of confession as well. Not a bad way to bring in the new year.
Faith Formation - Sunday January 21 at 9:15 We continue with our new monthly schedule of formative opportunities. Please join on January 21 from 9:15-10:15 as we delve deeper into the mystery of the Eucharist and how greater Eucharistic devotion can lead the Church forward. St. Paul Feast Day and Eucharistic Miracle Display Our feast day is January 25, but as it is our patronal feast we move its parish celebration to the nearest weekend. So the January 27 and 28 Masses will be using the St. Paul prayers. In addition we will have the Eucharistic Miracle Display that weekend! This display has been at a few parishes in the area already, but we want to make sure our parishioners get a chance too. More details to come.
