Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Listening Session Regarding Church Scandals This Sunday, October 28 at 9:30 in the PAC we will have a listening session regarding the recent scandals in the church. It will be a time of prayer, sharing thoughts and feelings, and offering support to one another as we journey together during these difficult times. My hope is that this can be a step toward receiving the Lord’s consolation and asking God to bestow even more graces to His Church.
Retreat Opportunity - 33 Days to Morning Glory Last week we had the orientation for the small group retreat that we encourage for parishioners. If you missed it, no worries, the actual retreat program does not start until Nov. 4.
You still have time to sign up and get the materials you will need. Please call the rectory for more information and do not be afraid. Give it a try. God wants to give you the grace to spiritually grow.
November 1, All Saints Day! - Holy Day of Obligation Especially in difficult times we need to rely on the example of the Saints! They too lived through sufferings, scandal, corruption, and even martyrdom. Not only are we obliged to participate at Mass, we realize our world needs the intercessory power of all the saints. There will be a Vigil Mass on Wed. 7pm, and on Thursday 7am, 8:30am, and 5:30pm.
November 2, All Souls Day! - and new Mass time Friday, Nov. 2 is All Soul’s Day when we pray for all the faithful departed who still await the fullness of Beatitude in heaven. While this is not a day of obligation, the souls in Purgatory need your prayers! The names of those St. Paul parishioners who have died this past year will be read before the regularly scheduled 8:30 am Mass. The names will also be read preceding the added Friday Mass time at 5:30pm. This Mass will be in the Extraordinary Form (the Traditional Latin Mass).
Month of November - Praying for the Faithful Departed This month is one dedicated in a particular way to praying for the faithful departed. At St. Paul’s one of the ways we do this is by having a book of the names of the dead. In front of the Sacred Heart statue (north end of church) is the book where people are encouraged to write in the names of those for whom they want to pray. Member of the First Friday Sacred Heart Devotion will pray for them in a particular way. Also they will be remember at all the Masses through the month. How wonderful God is that for His faithful ones, life is changed not ended! We have the opportunity to help them with our prayers. Let’s take advantage of these graces.
