Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
May Easter Graces Spur Us Onward! Having prepared well in Lent and now continuing to celebrate well the Lord’s Resurrection, we are encouraged onward. There is much coming up in next couple months.
May Crowning - Sunday, May 7 at 9am. The timing here is to encourage people from the 8am Mass to remain after for the Crowning and also to invite folks who attend the 9:30 Mass to arrive early and participate as well.
Mother’s Day / Mission Weekend - This perhaps seems out of the ordinary but our missionary speaker is coming Mother’s Day weekend. Her name is Sr. Lisa Valentini and she said how wonderful it would be for her to speak on Mother’s Day.
Rogation Day - We will celebrate the minor litanies on Monday May 15 at 6pm. This will include a procession outside (weather permitting) followed by Mass in the Extraordinary Form.
Corpus Christi Procession - After the 11:30 Mass on June 11 we will have a Eucharistic Procession. This year, rather than simply going around our own block, we are looking into making an extended procession out into the neighborhood and then return to church for Benediction.
“Minor” Parish Feast Day - Sts. Peter and Paul on Thursday June 29. Plans are tentative right now, but we would like to have a picnic or potluck of some kind. Since our feast day in January is in the middle of winter, let’s start having a mid-year St. Paul’s Feast as well to celebrate our parish and patron.
Eucharistic Renewal - Parish Phase The Church in the United States is transitioning from the Diocesan to the Parish Phase of the Eucharistic Renewal. Officially is starts on Corpus Christi. Keep checking bulletin for details, but I would like use a similar format that we incorporated for the “synod of synodality” sessions. I would ask parishioners to attend one of the sessions where we would pray and reflect on how we can better celebrate and witness to the power of the Eucharist in our lives. From these sessions we can learn how our parish should foster proper devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and how our Lord can enliven a deeper charity in our hearts.
Sacrament of Confirmation According to the Usus Antiquor Bishop Malesic is providing for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Usus Antiquor (the Extraordinary Form) on May 13, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Parish in Cleveland. If you are a parishioner of St. Paul’s and are seeking Confirmation in that Form, please contact Deacon John Amedeo as soon as possible at the rectory for details on the process. A meeting needs to be scheduled, a baptismal certificate for the candidate, special permissions, sponsors chosen and paperwork to be sent to the Bishop. We want to make sure you are prepared for celebrating this great sacrament.
For those of us who have been confirmed, let us pray for our young adults and all being confirmed. May we too ask God to renew us in the graces we have received from our Confirmation. Happy Easter!
St. Paul, Pray for us! Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Pfr
