Encouraging the Culture of Encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and All People
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Happy Feast of Corpus Christi!!! And Happy Father’s Day! In honor of our Lord’s Presence in the Blessed Sacrament we will have Adoration and Solemn Benediction immediately following the 4:30 Saturday Mass. Then following the 11:30 Sunday Mass will be a Eucharistic Procession around the block (weather permitting) ending with Solemn Benediction in the Church.
In honor of Father’s Day, we will pray to St. Joseph his Litany. This will happen at all 4 Masses.
Faith Formation - June 20 @ 6pm in the Parish Activity Center This session with be in the PAC in order to facilitate questions. Training For Failure - How to Progress in the Spiritual Life There are many similarities between athletic training and spiritual training. Join us as we examine those connections.
The first Monday of July, I will be out of town so there will not be Faith Formation that day. The third Monday of July will be unique. I was invited by the local “Theology on the Rocks” group to give a talk on that day, so I declined since we have a Formation talk here at the parish. So, we thought why not host “Theology on the Rocks” here at St. Paul’s! And that is what we will do. More details will follow, but note the time change on July 18, the Faith Formation session will start at 7:30pm. Also note that because there will be appetizers and alcohol there will be a cover charge.
Missionary Preacher Thank you to all those who assisted our guest preacher and missionary from the Vincentian Congregation, Fr. Baiju P. Anthony. He is a kind priest doing the Lord’s work as he finishes up his time in the United States. At the end of the summer, he returns to India. Remember we have a connection with him through St. Vincent de Paul, the shared patron of his congregation and also our own parish St. VdP group. Let us continue to keep them all in prayer.
Other Devotions Following Masses As the Easter Season concludes we will change our devotion following Masses. Throughout Ordinary Time we will continue to honor our Lady by combining a “Hail Mary” Prayer with other appropriate prayers. In June, Liturgically, we celebrate the Body and Blood of the Lord and also the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We have Father’s Day too, so each week will be a different devotion. June 19 - Eucharistic Procession after 11:30 Mass, Litany of St, Joseph after other Masses June 26 - Fortnight for Freedom Prayer These communal devotions, while not mandatory, are good to remind us that our spirituality ought to extend beyond the mere obligations of Sunday Mass. My hope is that these devotions inspire further growth in your personal lives as well
